Out at Bruxelles

We showed the guys a usual cultural evening with pleasant music and enjoyment of serveral pints of the best selling stout of the world. In other words we were annihilating, destroying and even breathing as much Guinness as we could.

Friends

As long as we keep learning English by watching 'Friends' those keep visiting us, each after each other. Naturally we got out when somebody new arrived. In this case: Schäfer, Peter and Dennis. I have to admit it was a costly night with cocktails, steaks and as a matter of course a tiny couple of Guinness.

Old Jameson

The funny thing about visiting the Distillery with your girl is that she is amused before she can be the selected whiskey taster and she is even more delighted about everything after the provided four whiskeys, :-).

Christ Church and Dublinia

If you ever wanted to see cultural Irish enlightment concerning the Middle Ages and the Viking era of Dublin you definitively have to visit the exhibition next to the Christ Church Cathedral named Dublinia. It really is fun for the whole family, especially the ground levels (as you can see, I disguised as middle-aged alchemist). The park near the cathedral is beautiful and of course inhabits wild growing flowers which you can donate to your girlfriend as a romantic gift.

One day in Galway

Our calculations to have nice weather at a trip to Galway were not satisfied. We walked around trying to find something interesting and it was raining all over the day. Therefore we drank enough beer to keep us warm and happy. Ok, I'm just kidding.

We missed the Cliffs of Moher which was the only reason why we decided to go to Galway.

Bram Stoker's Dracula Experience

My girlfriend and I went to Bram Stoker's Dracula Experience. I shall mention that it is in the back area of a huge entertainment centre with swimming pool, billard tables, gaming machines and lots more and you have to go through the whole centre to get to the Dracula thing. For some nice pics it was worth the 5€ admittance.

Afterwards we decided to test the famous and often recommended boxties (pancakes made of potatoes and buttermilk filled with several ingredients). First of all I was sceptic but I have to admit that it even so was worth the 15€. Another discovery on that evening was traditional Irish bread which really tasted delicious.

Sightseeing, Fitzsimmon's and Porterhouse

Amazing!

The last night we went out with Melanie, Anne, Flo and my girlfriend. We started with live music in Fitzsimmon's of Temple Bar and enjoyed a few Guinness. After that we decided to go to the Porterhouse - Temple Bar because there should play a band. This gig was brilliant. The band: AMORIC. They rocked and played classics and new stuff. We both liked it and it was Mojito night as well. Each cocktail just 4€...

Kilmainham Gaol

On the traces of Irish history we visited the Kilmainham Gaol where several of the Eastern Rising leaders had been held and later on executed. A brief outlook and a good tour one should not miss. After the visitation we bought some Irish gifts and of course posed in Leprechaun costumes.

Oh, my goodness, my Guinness!

Last week's Monday we visited the Guinness Storehouse as I got two tickets from my girlfriend to my birthday. For your interest: The Storehouse is divided in seven floors and built as a huge model of a pint (the Gravity Bar at its top - Head of the pint). On each floor you get to know things about Guinness such as production process, advertisement, tasting lab, etc. Unfortunately the selfguided tour took that long we couldn't do anything else because it was after 5pm.
